Britain is separate because it is unequal, and it is unequal because it is separate. The gap between rich and poor, having exploded during the 1980s, is still growing, despite measures to address poverty in the 13 years of Labour Government. At the same time, we face growing fragmentation in our communities.
In this new Fabian Ideas pamphlet, Nick Johnson argues that the politics of integration and equality have become fractured and that we can make the clearest case for both by showing what integration really means. The effect that a more integrated society would have on all our lives will be a powerful message for progressive politicians: equality andintegration must live together or fall apart.
