The Fabian Society is sad to announce that our deputy general secretary Marcus Roberts has decided to leave the organisation after the general election to take up an exciting new position. Marcus has been with the Fabians for 3 ½ years and has led a transformation in our research activities and made an outstanding contribution to our work on Labour’s electoral strategy.
Andrew Harrop, general secretary of the Fabian Society said:
‘Marcus has been an amazing deputy and I am very sorry to see him go. He leaves a proud record of research and new thinking behind. Marcus brought political acumen and good cheer to the society in equal measure and will be greatly missed by all our members, volunteers and staff.’
Marcus Roberts said:
‘After three and a half great years at the Fabians I’m moving on to a new adventure after the election. Working on issues as diverse as campaign guides, UKIP analyses and infrastructure policy reports has been both an intellectual challenge and a professional privilege. The Fabians aren’t just some of the smartest people on the Left but it turns out they’re some of the nicest people too and I will miss them tremendously.’
The Fabian Society will be recruiting to a senior position immediately after the general election.
