The last 15 years have seen impressive cross-party consensus on pensions policy, particularly the establishment and extension of auto-enrolment into workplace pensions. This has led to improvements in retirement savings and incomes. But further reforms are required to ensure more people have sufficient resources for retirement.

Bright Blue and the Fabian Society, two think tanks representing the intellectual right and left, have a track record of coming together to find common ground and practical answers on pressing policy problems. In this new report Andrew Harrop (general secretary, Fabian Society) and Ryan Shorthouse (director, Bright Blue) explore the scope for a cross-party agenda for the next stage of pensions reform.
